Professor Archie Johnston is an innovative leader of engineering education, integrating teaching and technology with industry. In 10 years he has built the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Technology, Sydney, into one with a world ranking in the top 100.
He was named Australian Civil Engineer of the Year in 2007 by the profession. As President of the Australian Council of Engineering Deans (ACED), he represents all engineering faculties throughout Australia. As Chairman of the Board, Centre for Leadership and Management (CELM), he leads the professional body which represents all engineers, Engineers Australia on matters bridging industry and business.
